Selangor Smart City & Future Commerce Convention 2017 – the exciting collaboration between Selangor and Barcelona – came to life recently at Setia City Convention Centre as part of the 10-day Selangor International Business Summit 2017 (SIBS 2017).

Set to run for three days starting Thursday, 7 September until Saturday, 9 September, the Smart City Convention is the first of its kind in the region to explore how smart, digital and green technologies and future commerce are revolutionising and transforming cities around the globe.

The convention was graced by the presence of YAB Dato’ Menteri Besar Dato Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, the Chief Minister of Selangor.

The official launch of the Selangor International Business Summit 2017 (SIBS 2017) was kicked off with a speech by YB Dato’ Teng Chang Khim, Senior Executive Councillor for Investment, Industry & Commerce, SME and Transportation.

With intellectuals, experts and specialists specially curated from over 12 global cities, the convention will be seeing over 60 top leaders from key Smart Cities such as Singapore, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Barcelona and Taipei. Expect thought-provoking discussions and intriguing panel sessions as top MNCs touch on topics such as IoT and Big Data and how Smart Transport and Smart Tourism can grow the economy.

Global Tech Giants such as Google, Nvidia, Alibaba and Tencent will also be speaking at the Future Commerce Forum on 9 September (Day 3), which will focus on the future of payments gateway and the impact of the Digital Free Trade Zone on the digital economy, including online marketplaces, logistics and fintech.

The exhibition with over 300 exhibitors will run at the Expo Hall from 7 – 9 September. It saw a robust turnout of attendees from all walks of life today, who were there to have an immersive, fun and insightful experience with top exhibitors such as Tesla, Microsoft, Nvidia, IBM, as well as international exhibitors from Spain, Netherlands, Germany, and Singapore, among others.
